Night Dragon alpha playtests begin in 2027
Closed alpha. Limited invitations. One goal: break the world before launch. Here is how the alpha will work, who gets in, and what we are testing.

Night Dragon enters closed alpha playtesting in 2027. We have been quiet about the details until now because we wanted to be sure of the shape of the program. Here it is.
What the alpha is
It is a real alpha. The build will be unstable in places. Systems will change between weekends. Progress will be wiped — at least once, probably more. We are not running a demo, a marketing beta, or a stress test dressed up as a launch. We are inviting players in to help us find the edge of the world.
Sessions will run in scheduled windows, roughly every three weeks, with a small persistent test group between windows. Each session focuses on a specific slice: combat feel, territory conflict, the economy, or a region.
What we are testing
- Combat at scale — 40-player sieges, large-scale bow and cavalry engagements, and the network budget under load.
- Persistent territory — claiming, defending, and losing ground over multiple sessions.
- The world simulation — trade routes, faction politics, and whether the world changes in ways that feel earned.
- VxEngine stability — performance on a broad hardware matrix, including older GPUs and integrated graphics.
Who gets in
Alpha invitations prioritize three groups: long-time Horizon RP players, people with deep experience in large-scale online games, and players who are good at explaining what broke. We will ask for hardware details, play history, and a short note about what you want to test. There is no purchase requirement, no pre-order gate, and no paid alpha access. Ever.
“An alpha is a promise to be honest with each other. We show you the rough version. You tell us the truth.”
Register
Registration opens later this year. You can add your name to the list now; we will contact you when the first wave opens. We will also publish a full alpha FAQ, PC requirements, and a development diary before invitations go out.
2027 is closer than it looks. We cannot wait to show you what is behind the gate.
